Trent organised a ride to his old man’s to pick up his Triumph.
His old man was home and the dogs greeted him. He told his mate to stay in the truck or the Doberman might get a piece of him.
Trent’s old man was a real grumpy bastard and always seemed to be pissed off or something.
“Yo just came to pick up my bike, found a wrench to fix it”. Trent told his old man.
“That bike has a mind of it’s own and I only know of one wrench that could fix that bike … as his voice trailed off.
Trent is sick of his pissed off moods and gives him the glare.
“F*** man go for a ride on your bike and blow them dam cobwebs out of your head, the old lady has gone get over it and can you blame her she’s the one at peace”, Trent said as he indicated to his mate with his hand to back the Ute up to the shed.

“Man, I hope you find someone that can kick you arse harder than you do because you’re too mean”, Trent said as he got Spike on his chain so Todd could get out of his truck to give him a hand.
“How’s it? Todd said to Trent’s old man.
“Todd! He nods back.
Todd sees the Triumph and smiles.
“Hope this wrench can fix this, it looks like a racer”, Todd says.
Trent’s old man is mumbling again something about ‘sticks’ and legs that could make that bike f**king crank right open.
Trent glares at him and tells him to give him a hand to lift the bike onto the Ute but he just stares at the bike like he is lost in another world.
Trent waves to Todd on the count of three to lift his end. The two of them struggle and Trent curses his old man.
He pants and strains to hold the bike while Todd grabs the ropes to secure it.
Finally the black beast is tied down and Trent glances over to his old man and stares at the look on his face. It was odd and he asked him if he was okay.
“Yea son, enjoy it as much as we did if you can get it to go” and he walked back to the shed.
“Hey Trent who is he talking about, your old lady didn’t ride motorbikes”, Todd said.
Trent had already picked up on that fact and waved his hand to Todd like not now I got a bike to get fixed.
“Let’s get this around to the wrench, then I can ride this mother like the wind. The old man said some bloke could crank it out like the wind and leave them to eat dust. Apparently this bike won some top prizes and fastest times but the old man don’t talk about those days much. Let’s roll man” as Trent slammed the tailgate on the Ute.
Todd turned up the music volume on the stereo and was singing to Queen, “I want all, I want all and I want it now…
Trent looked back at the house and the old man sitting on his bike ready to be going for one of his disappearing acts. He looked real sad Trent thought as his thoughts were getting back to navigating to this address.

“Turn here, next left Todd, that one there, slow down...
“Oh sweet the Cleaning Bitch is here”, Trent said as they pulled up the driveway.
Todd backed up the Ute to the shed slowly and sees the Hog parked by the backdoor.
“F*** who lives here man, choice place”

Roxanne appeared with this tall blonde thing from the house and Todd began to untie the ropes. Trent watched the blonde staring at the bike with a strange look and that she really flinched when she looked at him. Nice looking broad she is Trent thought. She had her thumbs in her jeans as she slowly walks up to the bike taking no notice of anyone and her eyes scanning the motor and the metallic black tank. Her hand reached out and she ran her hand along the length as if she was feeling for something. She froze and she quickly pulled her hand away. Man the look on her face really caught Trent’s attention.
Roxanne was flapping in the wind to the young ones but Trent kept watching her.
“That’s Jackie over there, some call her Hogbitch”, Roxanne said to Todd and Trent.
Jackie acknowledged them but something had her attention about the bike.
Roxanne knew that Jackie was puzzled about something.
“Get this bike down in here! Jackie said and opened the garage door.
Roxanne gave them a hand this time and they all had it down in a jiffy.
“Hand me that screwdriver and one of those blades in my red tool box”, she said to Todd as she pointed to the box in the corner.
Trent got in close as he watched Jackie take off the timing cover. She put it on the ground and asked if the bike was standard with the original paint job.
“I don’t know, it’s always been black, it just sat in the shed with a cover on it.
Jackie ran her hand along the tank and stopped. With the tip of the blade she scraped a section until two colours appeared, metallic blue purple and gold
Trent got up close to look at the tank and thought the colours were real awesome.
He looked at Jackie beaming and grinning from ear to ear with his bike and as he looked into her eyes she freaked like she had just seen a ghost in that moment.
“Where did you get this f**king bike? Jackie said to Trent with a real freaked out look.
Roxanne could see she was shaking like a leaf and breathing real deep.
“It’s my old man’s bike, why? Trent says to her.
Jackie puts the case cover in his hands and says, “this is Rats bike!!
“Shit do you know my old man? Trent asked Jackie.
Jackie froze.
Roxanne stopped in her tracks too because no one knew much about Jackie and out of the blue a bike she knows turns up. Now that is fate.
Jackie hadn’t said anything and her silence was long as she just stared at the bike.
“I take that as a Yes Trent! Roxanne laughed as she eyes Jackie up with the look, ‘you aren’t getting out of this one’. Jackie was now squirming in her seat and she knew it.

“You would know if it is true then about the bloke that could race this bike? Trent eagerly asks Jackie not really clicking.
She smiles.
“Oh yea the bloke that could ride this bike was all legs and sticks and rode it like the wind to make you eat dust!
Trent’s mouth dropped open and so did Todd’s.
Trent looked at her sideways and asks her one more question just to be sure.
“Hey Jackie, was the wrench that use to fix this bike called ‘Sticks’?
Jackie smiled and nodded as she asked him for the keys.
She hopped on and with a couple good kicks it turned over but Jackie knew it was certainly running like a bag full of rusty nails.
Jackie turned off the key and told Trent she would see what the wrench had to say and she would let him know a reasonable price by this evening.
Trent was over the moon.
They closed up the shed and Jackie just stared at Trent shaking her head.
“What? Trent said with a touch of attitude.
“F*** you are like your old man better learn to ride like him huh? Jackie was grinning at him.
Cheeky bitch Trent thought as they were driving out of the driveway.
“Trent, what did you make of that, she wasn’t saying much about your old man? Todd says.
“Hey let’s call around and find out what the old man knows about her. Shall we grab some beers and make it more fun?
“Man, you will turn out like your old man if you aren’t careful, you get meaner by the day! Todd said to him.
“Bullshit, I got a feeling I know what is up with him now”, as Trent pulled his wallet from his jacket at the drive thru.
